Golf Etiquette and Combating Slow Play:

Golf is a game of competitiveness and proper respect. AThere are certain ways to conduct yourself when with friends, clients, employers, newAacquaintances, members, and grandparents/grandchildren. ARespect….that is what golf etiquette is for. ABut are you being respectful if you are part of the reason why the group behind you has had to wait on every shot? AEven if they are waiting because you are being respectful to your group?…
A
Every golfer needs to be aware of the balance, it’s even subconscious with some. ANo one wants to rush or feel like they have to rush while playing golf. AKnowing how to balance your focus on the game and speeding up play can make EVERYONE’S day better.
A
Ready Golf:
Many golfers seem to frown upon ready golf, with not much reason except they say their match is so important that ready golf would mess with the logistics. ALet me be one of the many to tell you that there is nothing disrespectful about ready golf. AIt is the easiest and best way to speed the group up. AWhen Clark slices it into the woods for the 3rd hole in a row, you aren’t playing out of turn to shove it in Clark’s face, you are playing out of turn so you can help Clark look for his ball and keep the group moving.
A
Grinding over 2-footers:
WHY?….But really, why?
Pick it up, it’s good. ADon’t look at your buddy and hope he’ll give it to you.A Because that foursome behind you thinks it’s good.A If you have a bet with your playing partner, do you really want to win when Donny misses that 2-footer on 17?A Just give all putts inside 2 feet and play your match.A Fair for everyone, including that foursome behind you. 🙂
A
Don’t Think About Playing the Back Tees:
Just no.A Everyone has an ego, we’ve all stood on #1 from the back plates and been confident about conquering your next 4 hours. ABut then think about that ego of yours as you stand on #4 tee, +6 on your round…. Yeah, not that fun.
A
Be realistic about how far you can hit the ball off the tee, and look at the scorecard before your round.A #1 from the regular Men’s tees is 382 at Viniterra.A If your best drive maxes out at 240 yards, that means you will have 140 yards for your approach…that’s when you hit your best drive.A Not every tee ball, just your best tee ball.A So if you want to play the tees that have you hitting 140-175 yard approach shots, you’ve found the correct tees.A Playing the back tees, the same hole is 444 yards.A So your 140 yard approach after your best tee ball turns into 200 yards.A See where I’m going with this? 🙂
A
Golf is a game that is meant to be fun.A You respect the game, you respect your group, you respect the group behind you, and you respect yourself.A Everyone will be happy.A Unless you see that hot head Brian out on the driving range, he’s never happy.

Need a Tee Time? AWe know you do….
